The walk-in is a joke most of the time. We've chosen the walk-in and had medication thrown at us with no real exam, only to visit the local E.R. and get an exam and diagnosis of something completely different (and correct).
Pedieatrics center has ruined my son's teeth. I told them he needed floride because we have well water and they said get it tested to see how much floride it contains. Any one with common sense knows well water has 0% floride. So now all his top teeth are rotten. Thanks a lot McKenzie medical
Horrible. When having a baby it should be a stress free friendly environment with a staff to at least try and meet you and your loved ones needs. This place was the exact opposite for example they was hours late on giving my fiance her meds everyday. I myself had to find a coffee maker laying around in the cafeteria just to get a cup of coffee. The nurses where extremely rude unprofessional.
It's not just McKenzie that seems to have these issues. It's all hospitals and clinics in West Tennessee. They simply do not seem to care about patients, which is depressing. They have no interest in "solving the puzzle", but only getting paid and going home every day.
This review is for the Medical Center NOT the hospital. Half of the reviews I just read were for the hospital. Our entire family are patients at the medical center. From Dr. Winkler, to pediatrics and ESPECIALLY Holly Arnold. Gosh all of the people in PEDS have always been great! Are we always seen at EXACTLY our appointment time? No, but it's pretty close. If we aren't, we know it's because the patient before us or maybe even a few needed and received the attention to detail and needs that a patient deserves. So sometimes that sets things a bit behind schedule. When it's our turn, we are given the same attention that our appointment requires. When I had my first child in 2009, my pregnancy became VERY high risk. Dr. Winkler immediately referred me to the perinatologists in Jackson, which is EXACTLY who I needed to be treated by. He still followed up with me and kept seeing me for my pregnancy, but he had the high risk doctors working right along side to get me the best care possible. Doing so saved my life and I have my rather healthy daughter today.
The OB/GYN Clinic is superb. Anita Baker Ross is a wonderful person in general. The lab is mostly decent. The pediatric department used to be wonderful! Dr. Williams is an EXCELLENT doctor, and McKenzie is lucky to have him. The nurses are great. However, I don't feel like their morale is as high as it once was, and I'm not informed enough to the on-goings at that clinic to speculate why. The Specialty clinic is pretty good, with the exception of one person. She's one of the most flat-out RUDE people I have met in my LIFE. I should have lodged a complaint with H.R., but I didn't. I've just made a point to avoid this particular practitioner. Radiology is decent. Referrals are great.
The main clinic is sad. The counter staff vary between friendly and dismissive. The wait time is ridiculous most days. When you get into a room, you're there anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours between seeing the nurse and the practitioner. There are only a handful of doctors, nurse practitioners and nurses that care about their patients. I tend to visit the same particular C.N.P. because she's consistently shown she's there to heal. She doesn't throw medications at you and send you on your way like the majority there.
Holly Arnold has been treating my children for 8+ years now and I can assure you she treats my children like family. My oldest was a micropreemie and has a lot more medical needs than any of my other three children combined. Holly doesn't hesitate to refer her out whenever it's needed and she always listens to my mommy's intuition. Earlier this year one of my twins had a VERY strange illness and after discussing it with Holly (who was actually on maternity leave at the time), she had us go in to see Dr. Williams right away. Dr. Williams was very concerned and spent quite a bit of time with us trying to figure out what was wrong with my child! He even contacted the Centers for Disease Control for help! It turned out to be a virus, but it appeared upon initial examination to be much more serious than it wound up being. The point is, they care! From the ladies that do the appointments to the nurses, PAs and Doctors, first rate and I highly recommend this clinic! Hands down!
Pediatric front desk personnel are rude and conceded. Dr. Williams openly cusses in front of children and threaten to get a shot and stick my kids in the a$$ if they didn't settle down and be quiet. Now my children are afraid of the doctor. Nurses are nice though.
